Unibuddy today announced a new partnership with Prepskills. This partnership will support Canadian students who are looking to move to the US for college with their application process, by connecting them with a current student in the US – who has been through the journey before.

Unibuddy is offering their Discover platform to all participating universities at Prepskills’ US College Expo Virtual School Tours event, where students can connect with U.S. college representatives and experts, to understand all aspects of the US Admissions process, from selection, application, financing and student athlete considerations.

Students and parents are encouraged to attend free public evening virtual events October 21 and 22.

Special Guests include Mike Weaver, Former NHL player, Sami Jo Small, 3x Olympian, Matt Black, 2x Grey Cup Champion, Roberta Battaglia, America’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer finalist.

U.S. Colleges and Associations include: University of California, Berkeley, Dartmouth College, The University of Rhode Island and many more.

“Our partnership with Prepskills shows how important it is for prospective university students to connect with someone who is like them and can help them on the journey,” says Diego Fanara, CEO at Unibuddy. “Colleges taking part in their global fair will use Unibuddy to create profiles for their current students – who act as ambassadors and advocates..”

Joanna Severino is the Founder & President of PREPSKILLS and the US College Expo. She says, “Now more than ever, in a world of physical distancing and disconnection, connection is needed. The partnership with Unibuddy supports Prepskills in connecting students and families with schools of their choice and with student ambassadors for peer-to-peer connections.

“After working with thousands and thousands of students and families, we know the power of lived experience – students sharing their stories and academic journeys will help Canadian students in finding their future”.

Universities through this partnership can:

  • Connect prospective students with someone like them, studying the same major, who went through the journey before. This creates affinity to the institution and more meaningful engagement.
  • Use current students as advocates, and the authentic voice of the institution.
  • Leverage student ambassadors and tour guides to support with student inquiries, sharing experiences, and fostering a sense of belonging.
